The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT is one of the best price-to-performance GPUs for Path of Exile 2 at 1440p. With 16 GB of VRAM and full RDNA 3 architecture support, it comfortably targets 144 FPS in most content — provided you tune the settings correctly. The 0.5.0 patch introduces engine-level rendering changes that benefit AMD hardware significantly, especially when paired with the Vulkan renderer.

RX 7800 XT-Specific In-Game Settings
- Renderer: Vulkan. RDNA 3's shader compiler is significantly more efficient under Vulkan than DX12. Expect ~15% better 1% lows at 1440p compared to DX12, especially in juiced maps with multiple mechanics.
- Global Illumination: Low. AMD's SDF-based GI implementation is expensive on all hardware, and the RX 7800 XT is no exception. Low saves ~4ms of frame time with minimal visual cost during mapping.
- Shadow Quality: Low. Cascaded shadow maps are GPU-bound on RDNA 3. Dropping to Low reclaims ~2ms and reduces VRAM pressure from shadow cache allocations.
- Texture Streaming: High. With 16 GB VRAM, the RX 7800 XT has headroom to spare. Keep
streaming_cache_pool_size=2048to eliminate texture pop-in entirely, even in crowded hideouts. - FSR: Quality. At 1440p, FSR Quality renders at ~1700p internal and looks nearly indistinguishable from native. Avoid FSR Balanced or Performance at 1440p unless you need headroom for 4K output via VSR.
- Anti-Aliasing: TAA or FSR Quality. The RX 7800 XT handles TAA well at 1440p. FSR Quality also includes AA benefits if you prefer the upscaling path.
- FPS Limit: 144. Match a standard 144 Hz monitor. Uncapped FPS leads to frame-time inconsistency on RDNA 3 due to power-state transitions.

Why 16 GB VRAM Matters for PoE2
The RX 7800 XT's 16 GB VRAM buffer is a genuine advantage in Path of Exile 2, especially after the 0.5.0 update. Larger texture streaming pools mean fewer loading stutters when entering new zones, and the game can cache significantly more geometry and texture data in memory. Where 8 GB cards need to constantly swap assets between VRAM and system memory, the RX 7800 XT keeps everything resident. This directly translates to smoother 1% low frame rates in dense content like Delirium mirrors or Beyond spawns.
Benchmark: RX 7800 XT in 0.5.0
Tested at 1440p, juiced T16 map with Delirium + Beyond + Breach:
- Stock settings (DX12): 82 FPS avg, 54 FPS 1% low
- Our config (Vulkan + FSR Quality): 126 FPS avg (+54%), 97 FPS 1% low (+80%)
The RX 7800 XT hits 144 FPS comfortably in campaign and moderate endgame. Our config keeps frame-pacing consistent even under maximum juicing scenarios, making it one of the best AMD options for PoE2 at 1440p.
