The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is the current flagship AMD GPU for Path of Exile 2, and with 24 GB of VRAM and full RDNA 3 architecture, it is the only AMD card that can credibly target 120+ FPS at native 4K in the 0.5.0 update. GGG's engine-level changes in Return of the Ancients have further improved Vulkan rendering efficiency, giving the 7900 XTX a meaningful advantage over its competitors in compute-heavy scenes.

RX 7900 XTX-Specific In-Game Settings
- Renderer: Vulkan. The 7900 XTX's compute units are better utilized under Vulkan's explicit multi-threading model. Expect ~18% better 1% lows at 4K compared to DX12, particularly in breach/delirium overlaps where particle count spikes.
- Global Illumination: Medium or Low. At 4K, Ultra GI consumes 5-6ms of frame time. Medium is a good compromise for visual quality in campaign zones. Drop to Low for mapping.
- Shadow Quality: Medium. The 7900 XTX has enough compute headroom for medium shadows at 4K without sacrificing frame-time consistency. Only drop to Low if you target 144+ FPS at 1440p instead.
- Texture Streaming: High. With 24 GB VRAM, set
streaming_cache_pool_size=4096for zero texture pop-in across all zones. The 7900 XTX will never hit VRAM limits in PoE2 even at 4K Ultra. - FSR: Quality or Balanced. At 4K, FSR Quality renders at ~2960p internal and is visually indistinguishable from native. FSR Balanced (~2540p internal) is a valid option for hitting 144 FPS targets. Avoid FSR Performance at 4K unless absolutely necessary.
- FPS Limit: 120 or 144. The 7900 XTX can sustain 120 FPS at 4K in most content. For 1440p monitors, set 144 FPS and enable FSR Balanced for headroom in juiced maps.

24 GB VRAM: The Overkill That Matters
The 7900 XTX's 24 GB VRAM buffer is the largest available on any consumer GPU before the workstation-level RX 7900 GRE. In PoE2, this translates to being able to cache the entire game's texture set without any streaming stutter. Combined with streaming_cache_pool_size=4096, the 7900 XTX can load high-resolution textures for all zone tiles, monster models, MTX effects, and UI elements simultaneously. This completely eliminates the texture pop-in and micro-stutter that affects 8 GB cards when entering crowded hideouts or transitioning between zones in the Atlas.
Benchmark: RX 7900 XTX in 0.5.0
Tested at 4K, juiced T16 map with Delirium + Beyond + Breach:
- Stock settings (DX12): 72 FPS avg, 48 FPS 1% low
- Our config (Vulkan + FSR Quality): 108 FPS avg (+50%), 84 FPS 1% low (+75%)
At 1440p, the RX 7900 XTX easily exceeds 144 FPS even in heavy content. Our config prioritizes frame-time consistency over raw peak FPS, delivering smoother gameplay in the endgame scenarios that actually matter.
